LUMBERJACKS HONOR FALLEN HOCKEY PLAYERS
Jersey Raffled for Cleveland Heights Varsity Hockey Players Scholarship Fund

Cleveland, OH - The Cleveland Lumberjacks of the International Hockey League (IHL) today announced that they will raffle a team autographed jersey, with all proceeds going to benefit the "Barden, Benner, Carter Memorial Scholarship Fund" - a fund created in honor of the three Cleveland Heights varsity hockey players killed in a car accident February 11th, 2001. The raffle will begin on Saturday, March 31st and will conclude on Saturday, April 7th, "CSHL Salute to Champions" Night, at the end of the second period. The winner will be announced during the second intermission.

Tickets for the raffle are $1 and can be purchased at the Northeast entrance (near the main box office) during all Lumberjacks' home games through April 7th. Donations for the fund will also be accepted at the table or at the Lumberjacks' office in Gund Arena Monday through Friday, 8:30-5:00 PM. All checks should be made payable to: Barden, Benner, Carter Fund.

The "Barden, Benner, Carter Fund" was created to help Greg Uguccini, a fourth player that was seriously injured in the accident. The fund will help offset the rehabilitation costs and other medical expenses that he has incurred through his continuing recovery. Money from the fund will also be used to establish future memorials and scholarships as well as support the developmental needs of Cleveland Heights Hockey Programs.

In honor of the fallen players, the Lumberjacks will wear a sticker on their helmets bearing each player's number and a set of crossed hockey sticks. The stickers will appear on both home and road helmets and will be worn through the remainder of the 2000-01 regular season and playoffs.

Mail-in contributions can be sent to:
