Heights started the new year at home against St. Ignatius. The Wildcats came into
this game with an 0-5 league record but the Tigers didn't put up much of a fight,
sleepwalking their way to a 2-1 defeat. St. Ignatius scored the only goal of the
first period, outshooting Heights 15-3 while the Tigers took penalty after penalty.
In period two, Heights had the game-tying goal waved off on a quick whistle by the
referee. After St. Ignatius took a 2-0 lead with a powerplay goal in the third
period, the Tigers finally got on the scoreboard when
Joe Ross scored with two minutes remaining. Heights
played with a sixth attacker in the final minute, but couldn't even get the puck into
the offensive zone. Matt Crowell stopped 19 shots in
this loss.
