Heights put an end to a month-long losing streak with a solid, though unspectacular
performance against St. Ignatius. The Tigers jumped to an early lead with a goal in
the first minute of play. Carl Rose scored in his
second consecutive game, finding a loose puck in the crease, and sliding it into the
net. The 1-0 lead held until the second period when St. Ignatius tied the score with
a shorthanded breakaway goal. Later in the period,
Ben Winger put Heights back out in front by carrying
the puck into the offensive zone and blasting a slapshot for the go-ahead goal. The
Tigers clung to their one-goal lead through the rest of the second period and into
the third. When the team struggled in the defensive zone,
Ben Gaglioti kept Ignatius off the board, racking up
35 saves. With under three minutes left in the game,
Kyle Barden insured the win with his second
shorthanded goal of the year.
