Heights barely scraped past the Kent Roosevelt Rough Riders as
Ben Winger scored the go-ahead goal with 22 seconds
left in the game. Jeff Houser passed the puck from
the corner into the slot and Winger one-timed it home as he was knocked flat by a Kent
defenseman. Minutes earlier, goaltender Peter Eckendorf
preserved the 3-3 tie by stopping a 2-on-0 Kent breakaway. Eckendorf totaled 21 saves
and recorded his first win. In the opening period, with the Tigers trailing 1-0,
Dan Crowell scored his first goal of the season to tie
things up. Kent took the lead once again in the second period, but Jeff Houser tied the
score at two with a shorthanded goal. Chris Matthews
converted a breakaway in the third period and Nate Hall
added an empty-netter with four seconds to go.
