Heights used a fast start and a strong finish to beat Kent Roosevelt 6-3 in their
first game of the new year. The Tigers scored the first three goals of the match and
never relinquished the lead. Ben Winger scored
twice on the powerplay and Jeff Houser added a third
goal before Kent got on the board, scoring on a breakaway with one second left in the
first period. The second period was more evenly played.
Dan Crowell scored just over a minute in, but Kent
recorded the next two goals and made it a 4-3 game. Rather than panic after a rough
period, Heights came back out and dominated the third. The Tigers took 21 shots on
goal in the final period without allowing a single shot by Kent.
Erik Shoger picked up his first career goal and
Ben Winger scored again to complete his first career hat trick.
Nate Hall finished the game with four assists.
Peter Eckendorf only had to make 7 saves to get his
second win of the season.
