Heights wasted a brilliant performance by Peter Eckendorf
in a 4-1 loss at Mentor. The Cardinals outshot the Tigers 36-17, but Eckendorf's 32 saves
kept Heights in the game until the final minutes. Despite taking so few shots, the Tigers
had plenty of chances to score. The failure to convert on breakaways and other golden
opportunities cost Heights the game. Ben Winger scored
the only Heights goal, tying the game in the second period after Mentor took the lead
with a 5-on-3 powerplay goal. The Tigers' sloppiness in the defensive zone finally caught
up to them in the third period. Mentor scored three times to break the tie and win the
game.
