Heights got started on the right foot in the Thomas Worthington MLK Tournament by
beating Rocky River 5-4. The Tigers constructed a four-goal lead in the first two
periods and withstood a third period Pirate rally to win. The line of
Ben Winger, Jeff Houser
and Nate Hall did the offensive damage for Heights.
Winger had two goals and three assists, Houser scored twice and had one assist, and
Hall notched one goal to go with two assists. The Tigers led 5-1 in the third period
when penalties let Rocky River back in the game. The Pirates scored thrice on the
powerplay, including a pair of 5-on-3 goals, but they couldn't scratch out a tie
against goaltender Nick Schmidt. Schmidt won his
third game of the season with 27 saves and was honored as Player of the Game.
