Heights topped West Geauga 9-2 in the opening round of the State Tournament. The Tigers
jumped ahead with a 5-goal first period, then shifted into neutral for the rest of the
game. Ben Winger led the way with his third hat trick
of the season as well as four assists. John Sharpe
added two goals. Nate Hall,
Chris Matthews,
Dan Holmes and
Josh Janor each scored once. The goals by Holmes and
Janor were the first of their careers. Peter Eckendorf
recorded his third win of the season in net to go along with his first assist.
Jeff Houser had five assists, moving his team-leading
point total to 50.
