The Tigers opened the season with a trip to Columbus for the St. Charles Thanksgiving
Tournament. As a result of late registration, the only available spot in the tournament
was in a JV division. Since Heights didn't have any pre-season scrimmages this year,
the team treated this tournament as a tune-up for the rest of the season. The opening
game against the Northeast Storm (a club team with players from numerous Columbus high
schools) went 5-1 to the Tigers. Erik Shoger and
Jason Kelce led the way as each picked up one goal
and one assist. Nick Schmidt stopped 10 of 11 shots
for the win in net. Chris Matthews,
Dan Crowell and freshman
Paris Murray scored the other three goals.
