Game one of the Thomas Worthington MLK Tournament set Heights against Rocky River, a
rematch of a game played ten days earlier. In the last meeting, Heights surrendered a
lead in the third period and lost 6-3. This time around, the Tigers gave up a second
period lead, but bounced back in the third to win the game.
Jason Kelce scored once and
Paris Murray scored twice in the second period, giving
Heights a 3-1 lead, but Rocky River came back to tie the score by intermission. The
Tigers responded in the third period with two more goals by Jason Kelce and held on
for the win. The three goals, plus a pair of assists, gave Kelce his first hat trick and
a career-high five points. Nick Schmidt stopped 19 of
22 shots and picked up his fourth win.
