Heights stepped up to win a key divisional game, beating Red Southeast leader
Benedictine 4-1. The Tigers skated hard for three strong periods to boost their league
record to 3-2, good for second place in the division. The Bengals scored first with a
shorthanded goal, but Jason Kelce tied it with a
powerplay goal, scoring in his fifth straight game. Kelce came through again in the
second period, moving Heights ahead 2-1 and taking the team lead with his 15th goal.
Dan Crowell added a powerplay goal and
Rollin Hannah iced it, knocking in a third period
rebound. John Mates backstopped the win, making 23
saves and shutting Benedictine down for the final 40 minutes.
