Heights won their third straight game, edging Hudson 4-3. The Tigers didn't have a great
game in the defensive zone, but they did just enough on offense. Heights sped to a 2-0
lead before the Explorers could get a shot on goal.
Jason Kelce struck first, extending his scoring streak
to six games. Brandon Saylor followed with a wrist shot
through the five-hole for his first goal of the year. Halfway through the period, Hudson
bounced back and got on the attack, rallying to tie the score at 2. After a quiet second
period for both teams, Heights recaptured the lead in the third.
Rollin Hannah's sixth goal broke the tie. Then
Ethan Farris intercepted a Hudson breakout pass and set
up Jason Kelce's second goal of the night. That would prove decisive as Hudson answered
quickly to move back within one. Heights managed to hold on for the final seven minutes,
despite some sloppy play in their own end. John Mates
stopped 18 shots to bump his record to 3-1 and help the Tigers move into a first place
tie in the Red Southeast.
