Heights led off the 04-05 season at the Jr. Jacks' Turkey Bowl Tournament against
the Pittsburgh Central Catholic Vikings, a foe not faced since
February 2000. The Tigers weren't sharp at
the start, but freshman goaltender Daley Baker
helped keep it close with 21 impressive saves in his high school debut. Heights
trailed 3-0 in the third period when Dee Samuel
scored and the Tigers picked up some momentum. More scoring chances followed, but
two sure shots rang off the inside of the posts, and hopes of a tie fell inches
short. The Vikings tacked on two more goals in the final 70 seconds. The teams
combined for 24 penalties, the highest total in any Heights game dating back over
two seasons. Central Catholic converted three of those penalties into powerplay goals.
