The Tigers finished on the wrong end of a 7-4 shootout with Brecksville. Heights took
advantage of rebounds on the way to a 3-1 lead but couldn't make it last.
Martin Birk buried a rebound off
Dan Bray's shot from the point to tie the score at one.
Chris Zirm was on the back door to put away a loose puck
with 1.5 seconds remaining in the first period. Early in the second,
Paris Murray grabbed a rebound and flipped it over a
diving goalie to put the Tigers in front by two. Unfortunately, Heights wasn't playing
quite as well in their own zone and it caught up to them midway through the second.
Brecksville scored a pair after the ten minute mark to tie the game, leading to a wild
finish. With 52 seconds left in the period, the Bees went on top 4-3 with their third
powerplay goal of the game. Heights answered 17 seconds later when
Paris Murray circled the net and found an opening for
his second goal of the game. Just 19 seconds after that, Brecksville came back again with
a tie-breaking goal that made it 5-4. They added a critical shorthanded goal early in the
third period to put the game out of reach. The Tigers had two well-executed powerplays
later in the third, but couldn't get the puck over the goal line. Brecksville tacked on
an empty-netter to make the final margin 7-4.
