The Tigers finally snapped their losing streak with a victory over NDCL in the Heights
Holiday Tournament. The Tigers took a 3-1 lead into the third period, but the Lions grabbed
a powerplay goal in the opening minute to make things uncomfortably close. Rather than
hitting the panic button, Heights quickly responded with three goals in a ninety-second
span to put the game out of reach. Dan Bray got the
first, shooting through traffic from a bad angle on a powerplay.
Phil Torres was next, digging a loose puck out of the
crease and knocking in his first career goal. Chris Zirm
finished it off, taking a pass in the slot and burying his fourth of the year. NDCL tried
to get back in the game, but Daley Baker would allow
nothing more on his way to 29 saves and the win. Heights' two leading scorers were
instrumental in building the initial 3-1 lead. Paris Murray
was in the right place at the right time for a rebound goal in the first. He followed that
with a shorthanded breakaway goal in the second, running his season total to eleven.
Martin Birk blasted a powerplay goal under the crossbar
in the second period, complementing his two assists in this game.
