The Tigers battled Mayfield to a tie in the season opener, part of the Junior Lumberjacks
Thanksgiving Tournament. It started with a relatively quiet first period as each team
scored once, including a goal from captain Brad Shoger.
The game turned into a shootout in the second with Mayfield scoring three times in three
minutes to jump in front 4-1. Heights answered quickly with three of their own to even it
up. 13 seconds after Mayfield's outburst, Trevor Plunkett
knocked in a rebound from a shot by Chris Weiss to make
it 4-2. Phil Torres followed with another rebound goal.
Then Sam Brown redirected a shot from fellow freshman
Zack Murray to even the score at four. Heights briefly
took a third period lead with Jordan Shoger's goal, but
Mayfield came back and made the final score 5-5.
Daley Baker got the start in net and finished with 24
saves. |
