Heights lost the battle of the bounces in an even match against Mayfield. The Wildcats
scored twice in the first period, including a centering pass that found the net off a
skate in the slot. Trey Hopkins got the Tigers on the
board in the second period, pounding in a rebound for his first career goal. Mayfield went
back up by two late in the period, when a floating shot from the point ricocheted off the
helmet of a Tiger and snuck into the net. Heights finally caught a break in the third
period when Chris Zirm scored a powerplay goal from
behind the goal line, banking the puck off a defenseman in front. The Tigers had another
powerplay opportunity in the final minutes, but they came up just short.
Liam Robinson looked good in goal, stopping 24 of 27.
