Heights held on for a 7-6 win over Benedictine in the NDCL Invitational. The Tigers looked great at times and had multiple large leads, but the Bengals kept fighting until the end. It looked like a rout when Heights jumped to a 3-0 lead with first-period goals by Aleksi Kuuri, Chris Hill and Sam Brown. Benedictine brought it back to a one-goal game, scoring twice within 10 seconds later in the first. The Tigers added two more in the second period with goals by Ben Urbas and Tyler Rudy. Then they pushed the lead to 7-3 with third-period goals from Aleksi Kuuri and Isaac Brown. But Heights may have let up a little after that, and Benedictine took advantage, scoring three quick goals in the game's final four minutes. The Tigers hung on for the win, but the Bengals' third period flurry cost Heights a trip to the tournament championship game. |
