11/28/97 Erie McDowell (PA) 4 - Cleveland Heights 3 Heights once again opened its season at the annual Bowling Green Thanksgiving Tournament. The Tigers first opponent this year was Erie McDowell. Heights defensemen Doug Turner and Eric Aber got the game off to a good start as they each scored in the first period. However, Erie came right back to score three goals in the second period amid numerous Heights penalties. After another Erie goal in the third period, Turner scored his second of the game to bring the Tigers within one. Heights appeared to score the game-tying goal with four seconds remaining in the game but the goal was waived off and the Tigers had to accept a 4-3 loss. |
