2/7/98 Cleveland Heights 2 - St. Ignatius 2 (OT)
Heights ended their regular season with a hard-fought 2-2 tie against St. Ignatius. This
defensive struggle went scoreless for two periods until the Tigers' defense faltered in
the third. A pair of turnovers in Heights' defensive zone led to a 2-0 Ignatius lead and
put the Tigers in desperate need of a goal. For the third time in as many games,
Eddie Babcox was there to lead the way. Babcox
first redirected a shot past Ignatius' goalie and later knocked in a rebound to tie the
score with just two minutes remaining in the match. The eight-minute overtime which
followed lacked the strong defense of the previous three periods. Each team had numerous
scoring chances, but both goalies were up to the challenge and the game ended in a draw.
The two-goal performance for Babcox marked his third in a row, while
Andrew Markus made a strong showing with 32 saves.
