Only a few hours after defeating the Penn Hills Indians 5-0, Cleveland Heights had to
face off against the Erie McDowell Trojans in their own tournament. The Tigers looked
flat for most of the game and didn't seem quite like the same team that dominated Penn
Hills. Matt Crowell kept Heights in the game by
stopping 31 shots, but the Tigers' offense failed to create many scoring chances for
the first 40 minutes of the game. Another problem for Heights were the eleven penalties
which they received during the course of the match. Finally, with about five minutes
remaining in the game, the Tigers started to show signs of life.
Brian Clark's third goal of the season cut Erie's lead
to one, but the offensive pressure could not produce a second goal. |
