Heights battled into overtime for the second straight game but the Tigers came up short
once again in a loss to the Gilmour Lancers. Gilmour dominated the first period of the
game, outshooting Heights 19-4, but the Tigers only trailed 2-1 at intermission thanks
to Ben Gaglioti and
Nate Hall. Gaglioti stopped 17 shots under constant
fire while Hall scored his fourth goal in five games this season.
Jared Lavender spurred Heights to a strong second
period, tying the score at two by converting a penalty shot just 11 seconds in. After
tying the game, the Tigers went on to play strong defensively for two periods. Neither
team scored again in regulation time, while Heights outshot the Lancers 12-11 over the
final two periods. The Tigers continued to play well as overtime began, coming very
close to netting the winning goal, but a breakdown in the defensive zone handed the win
to Gilmour. The Tigers did a fine job staying out of the penalty box, only taking three
penalties over the course of the game.
