The Tigers lost their final regular season game to the Mentor Cardinals by a final
score of 6-3. Twice Heights fell behind and fought back to tie, but Mentor snapped
a 3-3 deadlock in the third period with three straight goals. The Tigers' first two
goals came in the second period with Mentor already up 2-0.
Ben Winger put back a rebound to get Heights on
the scoreboard and Eric Leiser followed with his
first career goal. Leiser was creating traffic in the slot when he was hit by a shot
from John Schmidt. Leiser knocked the puck out of
the air, spun, and slid it into the net to tie the game. Mentor recaptured the lead
by the end of the period and Heights tied it again in the third. Ben Winger turned
in his second goal of the game off a Jeff Houser
pass, but the Cardinals finished the game with three unanswered goals.
Ben Gaglioti made 29 saves while the Tigers'
offense registered only 16 shots.
