The Tigers journeyed to Columbus to participate in the Thomas Worthington Holiday
Classic over MLK weekend. Heights' first match came against the Worthington Kilbourne
Wolves in the wee hours of Saturday morning. A trio of powerplay goals by
Carl Rose,
Chris Matthews, and
Jeff Houser staked the Tigers to a 3-0 lead at the
midway mark, but Kilbourne took advantage of Heights penalties to get back in the game.
Two powerplay goals for the Wolves made it 3-2 at the second intermission and Kilbourne
then evened the score just 11 seconds into the third period. Heights did not give up
after losing the lead, however. Carl Rose picked up his second goal, the eventual
game-winner, with four minutes remaining. Rose then added an empty-netter in the final
seconds for his first career hat trick. Counting one assist for Chris Matthews and three
assists for John Sharpe, the line of Rose, Matthews,
and Sharpe combined for eight points in the game.
Ben Gaglioti earned his seventh win of the season with
18 saves.
