Heights finished the Thomas Worthington Holiday Classic with the consolation game
against the host Thomas Worthington Cardinals. Trailing 3-1 in the third period, the
Tigers mounted a late comeback and rallied to a 4-3 win.
Jeff Houser scored his eleventh goal of the year to
make it 3-2 and then Heights finally started to catch a few breaks. With just over
three minutes remaining, Worthington's goaltender dove into the high slot to cover a
loose puck. When the referees did not blow the whistle for a faceoff, the goalie was
forced to play the puck. Chris Matthews stole it
and fired into an empty net for the tying goal. Less than a minute later, defenseman
Justin Kalman struck a low line drive from the point
that passed untouched through the five hole for his first goal of the season and the
game-winner. Ben Gaglioti won his second game of the
tournament, making 19 saves. The Tigers' first goal came in the second period off the
blade of Carl Rose. Rose finished with five goals
in the tournament, and currently has twelve on the season to tie
Nate Hall for the team lead.
