The Tigers had to settle for a 3-3 tie with the Hudson Explorers in the first regular
season game played in the new Cleveland Heights Recreation Center. It was almost the
first win of the season for Heights as Dan Crowell
scored his first high school goal to put the Tigers ahead 3-2 with four minutes to
play. However, each time the Tigers took the lead in this game, Hudson came right back
to tie the score. Heights' eighth penalty of the game allowed Hudson to draw even with
a powerplay goal in the final minute. Neither Heights nor Hudson could muster the winner
in overtime, so both teams walked away with one point in this Red Southeast matchup. In
the first period, Chris Matthews recorded his first
career goal on a breakaway, but Hudson tied the game less than a minute later.
Ben Winger made it 2-1 Heights in the second period,
but Hudson again tied the score within minutes. The Explorers outshot the Tigers 39-27
but Ben Gaglioti was sharp in net with 36 saves for
Heights.
